Died on 1 August 1787 in Pagani at age 90;
Beatified on 15 September 1816 by Pope Pius VII;
Canonized on 26 May 1839 by Pope Gregory XVI;
Declared Doctor of the Church on 23 March 1851 by Pope Pius IX;
Founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, "Redemptorists";
A lawyer, composer, musician, poet, author, scholastic philosopher and theologian.
Patron of confessors, moral theologians, arthritics, lawyers, vocations.
Patron of the Brooklyn Redemptoris Mater Seminary 2018.
